Leash Training for Cats

It's easy to train cats to wallk on a leash.  In fact, if you know the rules, it usuially takes only about 10
minutes.  The biggest problem people have is getting the cat to forget about the leash and/or the harness.  Many people have told me, "My cat just lies down and the only way I can move him is to drag him!"   Believe me, leash training should never be a drag!  And, yes, a cat can be leash trained any any age.  The secret is to have a toy or a treat handy, and use one or the other to distract the cat when you first put on the harness and leash.  Also, it's important to be consistent in your training.  It may take 3 or 4 days for kitty to get the idea, but eventually it will happen.  Once your cat starts walking on the leash, try always to stay behind him.  Never get out in front of your cat or attempt to drag him.  It simply won't work.  Email us if you need help or advice.

Cats love being out of doors!  It is much safer, however, for your cat to be on a leash or in a backpack.  Yes, it's fun, easy, and really good exercise to take your cat on a "Cat Carry"!  Click HERE and scroll down to see what it's all about.
